Premier coffret consacré aux Staples Singers qui couvre l'ensemble de leur carrière et contient la réédition de leur tout premier 45 tours enregistré 1953 et jamais commercialisé. Un événement. Groupe formé par Pop Staples avec ses enfants Mavis, Cleotha, Pervis et Yvonne, Les Staple Singers créent leur propre style en mêlant Blues, Gospel, Folk et Soul. Figures emblématiques du mouvement pour les droits civiques dans les années 1960, ils vont connaître le succès dans les années 1970, notamment avec "Respect yourself" qui sera repris entre autres par Joe Cocker, les Temptations et Aaron Neville. Avec des morceaux comme "I'll take you there", "The weight" ou "Let's do it again", Les Staple Singers font aujourd'hui partie intégrante du patrimoine musical américain au même titre qu'Elvis Presley, Ray Charles et Bob Dylan.
